Information About Huntsville, AL
Huntsville Botanical Garden
Alabama’s weather is perfect for the horticulturalists, and the Huntsville Botanical Garden offers a large look at the plants that grow naturally in the South. It provides year-round opportunities for photographers, trail walkers, and garden lovers. The garden hosts a number of themed gardens including an aquatic garden, space garden, dinosaur garden, and Storybook garden. Surround yourself with butterflies, or flutter byes as some call them, in the “nation’s largest seasonal butterfly house.” The garden also offers seasonal events including a scarecrow trail, Huntsville Blooms, and the Galaxy of Lights.
US. Space and Rocket Center
The U.S. Space and Rocket Center, established by rocket scientist Von Braun in 1970, is the largest spaceflight and rocket museum in the world. There you can see up-close the Saturn V Moon Rocket, Pathfinder, Apollo 16 Command Module, Apollo 12 Moon Rock, and the Skylab Orbital Workshop. Just as much as the U.S. Space and Rocket Center is a museum, it is also a hands-on learning center that includes a Space Camp, Aviation Challenge Camp, and Space Camp Robotics.
The facility includes two theaters—the Spacedome IMAX theater and National Geographic Theater. Visitors can experience the many avenues of space travel and exploration in one of the facilities simulation rides, feel the G-force of a rocket launch in the Space Shot or the G-Force Accelerator, enjoy one or all of five shows in the Rocket Pod, or take a climb up the Mars Climbing Wall. While not everyone can be an astronaut, at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, everyone can feel like an astronaut.

Harmony Safari Park
If you are looking for something to do on a mellow afternoon, try a drive through the Harmony Safari Park in Huntsville Alabama. This 30-acre nature preserve houses and exhibits both exotic and endangered animals. At the preserve’s gates, you can purchase tickets and buckets of food to feed the free roaming animals directly from your vehicle. Driving the two-mile loop, you will see bison, kangaroos and more as they walk right up to your car window. Drive the loop as many times as you desire, but don’t leave when you’re done. Just outside the driving safari, you can exit your car and touch the turtles or play with some of the other animals at the facility. Harmony Safari Park also has a Reptile Room and a baby giraffe exhibit.
