Frank Lloyd Wright’s Rosenbaum House

The Rosenbaum House is a Frank Lloyd Wright design intended for low-income families. Built for Stanley and Mildred Rosenbaum in 1936, the house was originally 1,540 square feet, but as the family grew, Stanley Rosenbaum requested that Wright design an addition that increased the structure to 2,624 square feet. The house, the only Frank Lloyd Wright home in Alabama, was purchased by the City of Florence and turned into a museum that is now open to the public and offers 45-minute tours. Frank Lloyd Wright was named by the American Institute of Architects as the greatest American architect of all time.

Pope’s Tavern

Stagecoach stop, hospital, residence, tavern—Pope’s Tavern in Florence, Alabama has served many functions over the years, including a stopping location for Andrew Jackson in 1814. It was first built as a stagecoach stop, but during the civil war, it became a hospital for both union and confederate soldiers. Currently, the Indian Mound Museum is closed to the public, but renovations to the museum are in progress and curators expect to reopen it soon. The museum holds many Native American artifacts dating as far back as the Paleo era.
