Can I Do Anything To Reduce The Mosquito Population At My House?

Mosquitoes are some of the most annoying insects in the world! Okay, this might be a little bit of an exaggeration, but you know how annoying they can be. Not only that, but they can carry diseases and that is more than enough reason to want them gone.

If the mosquito population has grown too much for your liking, you have to do something to get rid of them. But what can you do? No matter what you do, you end up with more bites.

Well, you do have a few options…

Maintain Your Property

While most homeowners loathe yard work, their desire to remove mosquitoes be more powerful. Mosquitoes prefer areas that are warm, have standing/stagnant water, and tall grass. And it is easy to have these on your property – just let the grass grow for a couple of weeks, leave an empty bucket in the yard during a rainstorm, etc.

Your job is to figure out where they are hiding and start cleaning it up. If you find standing water, remove it. If the grass is tall, cut it. If they are eating on a dead rat from our favorite cat, get rid of it (not the cat; good kitty).

Zap Them

For those who prefer a more direct approach, bug zappers are fairly effective at reducing the insect population. Using a light that attracts them and an electrical current, you could easily cut your insect population in half overnight.

There are plenty of zappers on the market, so pick one that is big enough for your problem and leave it out for the night (or two). Of course, you will hear a slight buzzing sound whenever another one ‘bites the dust” which can be annoying at night.

Hire A Professional

However, the best way to reduce the mosquito population at your house is to call in a professional pest control specialist.

These specialists can locate their hiding spots, clean everything up, apply some special chemical treatments, and eradicate them. They know what to look for, what to do when they find them, and how to keep them from coming back.

Hiring a professional is one of the easiest methods and definitely the safest method. You will not have to suffer from hundreds of bites from those pests if you make the right call. Do not let mosquitoes torment you for another day. Use the methods provided or call a professional and let them do all the dirty work.
